My wife Robin and I were honored to be asked to chair the AnMed Health Camellia Ball for 2018 which benefits AnMed Health Foundation and Pediatric Therapy Works. Children living with developmental disorders and physical impairments often require specialized care. At AnMed Health Pediatric Therapy Works, they provide physical, speech, and occupational therapy services to these children.

A theme that was exciting, glamorous, and unique was a must for Anderson, South Carolina's social event of the season! This led us to conceptualize a theme around Italy's canal city of Venice, a place of intrigue, complete with gilded palazzos patinaed with age, dazzling architecture and hedonistic masked balls. To that end, "Venice" The Glenn Constructors Camellia Ball 2018 benefiting AnMed Health Pediatric Therapy Works will be a masked ball. Guests will be asked to arrive already masked or choose a mask before entering. After our initial reception with a string quartet and signature cocktails guests will unmask before the dance band begins to play.

The Winged Lion of St. Mark holding the Bible is the ancient symbol of Venice and became our symbological starting point in the development of a logo for the event. In the Lion's hand we placed an abstraction of the camellia built with two rusticated quatrefoils, a motif common to Venetian Gothic Architecture and Renaissance graphic design.

Brainstorming for the party has been great fun. Scouring books, photos from vacations and the internet for photos of old Venetian floral design, architecture, costumes, masks, cocktails and foods has been a delight. Take a look at some brainstorming images below. Please make plans to be a part of our fabulous event on Saturday, February 3rd at The Bleckley Station in Downtown, Anderson, SC as we support a most worthy cause.
