The First Baptist Church in Anderson, South Carolina has for nearly two centuries stood as one of the most valued institutions and churches in the community. However, it seems every town in the Southeast US has a First Baptist so Locke Design wanted to create a design and visual identity that would make First Baptist Anderson stand out from all the rest. Paying tribute to the roots of the church both historically in the city and over 2,000 years of Christian symbology was important while projecting a modern, welcoming and inclusive image that is relevant for the 21st century.

The final selected logo concept designed by Locke Design at first appears to be a symetical Celtic cross but upon closer inspection the new logo design for First Baptist allows the Christian story to be told.
In this cruciform logo design we find hidden the following:
-The Number One- representing Christ as first and only begotten
-The Orb- representing the world and eternity
-The Crown of Thorns
-The Nails
-The Cornerstone

Additionally, the logo has been applied to a seal or logotype design celebrating the 200th Anniversary of First Baptist Anderson. The logo also features multiple version used color coded quadrants to represent the various ministries of the church including senior adults, children and housing.
