David Locke, the Founder of Locke Design Omnimedia, will guide a study of the work of Dale Chihuly through lecture on Thursday, May 17th 5 - 6:30PM at Anderson University and then a guided tour of a Chihuly Garden Cycle Exhibition at Biltmore Estate on Saturday, May 19th 7:30AM - 9PM. This exhibition is a once in a lifetime artistic moment you don’t want to miss in the Carolinas.

Experience first-hand the work of one of America’s foremost living artists, Dale Chihuly. Dale Chihuly (born September 20, 1941) is an American glass sculptor and entrepreneur. His works are considered to possess outstanding artistic merit in the field of blown glass, moving it into the realm of large-scale sculpture. The technical difficulties of working with glass forms are considerable, yet Chihuly uses it as the primary medium for installations and environmental artwork.
ABOUT THE CLASS
Class members will learn about the visual vocabulary of Chihuly's work during a lecture at Anderson University including various glass forms and how Dale creates his unique works. Further, we will study the development of the glass forms from small vessels into large scale sculpture and explore the garden cycle exhibitions presented at many venues the world over. The introductory class is designed to give tourgoers a basis for greater enjoyment of this once-in-a-lifetime experience through greater understanding of the challenges in blown glass creation and large scale sculptural installation.

ABOUT THE TOUR
David and his family will be staying on the Estate the night before our scheduled tour. Anyone wishing to self-drive and experience the exhibition the night before would be welcome. The morning of the exhibition tour (May 19th) Locke Design's Customer Service Representative Rhonda Agnew, and Junior Graphic Designer, Garrett Agnew along with Lifelong Learning Director, Nancy Hanley will lead our group from Anderson University via motorcoach to Biltmore Estate. David Locke will then conduct a tour of the garden cycle and be available to answer questions about Chihuly's works. Certainly free time will be offered to explore Biltmore Estate and the house and gardens.
